I LOVE a challenge..and boy did this space give it to me!  
We laid the kitchen out in a ushape for a nice work triangle with a farmhouse sink at the hub.  We tucked a small powder room around the corner (the only bathroom on the main floor).  The space allowed a nice table area for breakfast and homework time for the kids.
We uncovered three layers of flooring to find this beautiful original maple floor.   We went with a nice off white on the cabinets, accented with some cool crackled glass tile.  The pendants were handmade from the hotshops.
